On September 19, 1954, the Parish of Saint Peter the Apostle was established. Father Edward Lyons celebrated the first Mass in the church at midnight on Christmas Eve. Fifteen years later, on December 7, 1969, our present church on Airport Road was blessed and dedicated by His Excellency, Alexander Carter, Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie.

Since those early days, Saint Peter’s has grown into a vibrant and welcoming parish community. But what does Saint Peter’s Parish mean to those who call it home?

The answers are as varied as the people who make up our parish family: community, family, faith, friendship, welcome, care, involvement, and a sense of belonging. For many of our parishioners, Saint Peter’s is simply a place where they feel at home.

We believe that every person has been blessed by God with unique gifts and talents. Our parish family encourages each person to discover and share these gifts—not only for the betterment of our parish, but also in service to the wider community in which we live.

Today, our parishioners remain committed to keeping this “young” parish alive, active, and welcoming. We strive to support one another, reach out to those around us, and warmly welcome all who enter our doors.
